Professor Victor Anomah Ngu set up Clinic of Hope in 1991, just two years after retiring from civil service duty.
The Clinic was born out of the desire to continue research on cancers, sickle cells disease and HIV/AIDS that Prof. Ngu initiated at the Yaounde University Teaching Hospital, where the he taught for 20 years. The Clinic that started with a secretary, an assistant nurse in the person of Mrs. Nomo and the Professor himself soon saw its personnel grow slowly but steadily.
At its infant stages, the clinic used the services of some student doctors from Nigeria and Cameroon who came in to draw inspiration from a man who has proved his worth in the medical field in Cameroon, Nigeria and the world. Currently, the personnel of the Clinic include Dr. Fergus Ambe who joined the team in 1999, Dr. Boma who came in in 2000 and Dr. Achidi who has been part of the the Clinic since 2002. A state registered nurse and secretary have also been recruited to facilitate work at the Clinic.
The Clinic runs a laboratory on cancer, sickle cell disease and HIV/AIDS research. It goes without saying that the focus of the activities at the clinic at the moment is the research on and the treatment of HIV/AIDS. Patients show up at the clinic for illnesses other than cancers, sickle cells and HIV/AIDS. Some of the patients who come to the Clinic are simply referred to competent health experts and units elsewhere especially when their illnesses do not fall within the areas of specialisation of the Clinic.

VANHIVAX, HIV/AIDS: A Summary Update
Before setting out against an enemy as formidable as the HIV, it is prudent and even very important to understand thoroughly the enemy; (1)to know as much as possible about the structure and any significant or unusual elements of the structure of the virus, (2) to interpret correctly the role played by such elements, (3) if possible the evolution of the virus and (4) to fully understand the biological consequences or effects of the presence of the virus in the body because a virus that persists must have some effects on the body.
